The media classifies Muslims as "terrorists," "highjackers" and "kidnappers." So why would anyone even look at Islam? Why are so many priests and preachers going to Islam? Read my story

5.  How do you worship a God you cannot see?

Who made the snow men?  Did the snow fall by chance into those shapes or was there one who made them, designed them and proportioned them with their props?  Look around you and what do you see?

Yusuf Muhammad Ansari

On September 4, 1993, I began a journey that was a childhood dream. I left my home city of Aberdeen, Scotland, at 4: 10 p.m. with the intention of driving my camper van all the way to Goa, India, and back. Before I undertook this journey, I spent a lot of time reading about the countries, customs, peoples and religions of each place. At the very least this would give me a basic understanding of how I should act upon arrival to them. Although the diversity of the peoples was a task to take on board, it was the diversity of religions that stuck most in my mind. For me there seemed to be an excitement about Islamic countries, which kept coming to my mind.

3.17 HOW TO CORRECT MISTAKES IN PRAYER

For one reason or another, one makes mistakes in Salat. These mistakes not only involve Quranic recitation, they also span important procedures and even the number or rak'at to be read. In order to make the Salat accomplished, the following remedial actions are prescribed under two sub-headings: 1) mistakes of oneself; and 2) mistakes of the Imam.

How is accountability, reward and punishment?

A Muslim, firmly, believes that Allah has distinguished the accountable creatures (the Humans and the Jinn) by granting them special gifts and providing them with innumerable bounties. In other words, Allah made them responsible for these gifts, to enjoy, maintain and invest for their benefits.

No one could have ever imagined me making such a decision! Even in my wildest dreams, looking back five years, I myself could not have foreseen this turn of events. Those who knew me uttered in disbelief, "Teresita converted to Islam? What got into her?"

4.  Why is mixing not allowed in Islam?

Men and women are mixing every day in our everyday affairs:  in supermarkets, shopping malls, restaurants, hospitals, government agencies, during travel, plumbers, mechanics, walking on the corniche/public places of all kinds, etc…   Allah Most High tells us in the Holy Qur’an 9:71:

“The believing men and believing women are protectors of one another.  They enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and establish prayer and give zakah and obey Allah and His messenger. Those - Allah will have mercy upon them.  Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise.”

3.  Why aren’t boyfriends/girlfriends allowed in Islam?

What is the difference between a friend/brother who is a boy and a boyfriend?

In boyfriend/girlfriend relationships they touch each other with no responsibility or lawful contract that gives the woman her rights and honor.  Allah Most High says, “And do not approach immoralities – what is apparent of them and what is concealed.”  (Qur’an 6:151)
