RECOMMENDED DU'A (SUPPLICATIONS)

5.7 Quraanic Du’a (Suppilcations)

The best forms of supplications are those taught by Allah and His Messenger (pbuh). There are supplications for virtually every occasion and need in Islam. The most common ones are suggested in the two respective sections of this chapter inder the headings: Quraanic supplications and Prophetic supplications.

1. When Reciting the Quraan

Transliteration:

Fa izaa qara’tal quraana fasta ‘iz bil-lahi min-nash-shaitaan-ni-rajim.

Translation:

So when you recite the Quraan, seek refuse with Allah from the accursed devil.

Thus, before reciting the Quraan say:

Transliteration:

      A’uzubil-lahi minash-shaitaan-nir-rajim.

Translation:

I seek refuse with Allah from Satan the accursed.

2. Conduct of One when the Quraan is being Recited

Transliteration:

Wa izaa quri al quraanu fas tami ‘ulahu, wa ansitu, la ‘alakum turhamun.

Translation:

And when the Quraan is recited, listen to it and remain silent, that mercy may be shown to you.

3. Du’a for Submissiveness

Transliteration:

Rabbana taqabal minnaa innaka antas-samiul alim. Rabbanaa wajalnaa muslimaini laka wa min zurri-yatinaa ummatam-msulimatalak. Wa a rinaa manaa sikanaa wa tub ‘alainaa, innaka antat-tawa bur-rahim.

Translation:

Lord, accept this from us, surely You are All-Hearing, All-0Knowing. Lord, make us submissive to You, and make our offspring a people submissive to You. Show us our ways of worship, and turn to us in mercy; for You are Ever-Returning with Compassion and Merciful

4. Du’a of Submission

Transliteration:

Rabbana afrig ‘alaina sabran wa to waf-fana muslimin

Translation:

Lord, send down on us steadfastness and cause us to die in submission (as Muslims).

5. Du’a for a Pure Heart

Transliteration:

Eabbanaa laa tuzigh qulubanaa ba’da iz hadaitanaa wa hab lanaa mil-la dunka Rahman, in-nak antal wah-haab.

Translation:

Lord, let not our hearts become perverse after You have guided us; and bestow upon us mercy from Yourself, surely You are the Great Bestower.
